Engine does not need to come out. Nuts on bellhousing can be tricky, but is doable with universal joints, extensions, skinned knuckles ... I do not remember the fine points of this exercise but certainly the starter motor must be removed and therefore the header pipes. Motor mounts at the crossmembe...

Superformance would have the answers. Years ago I spoke to Mike Elliot about the 2.3 option. Mike could not have been happier with the results. The leaf springs on the 2l cars are not under tension making removal safe and easy. Axle is simple to remove too. Remove nuts holding U straps will free the axle from spring - disconnect reaction struts to complete the job. No unwanted surprises here!

Door Hinge: The factory hinge uses a plastic bushing within the center sandwiched bracket attached to the body sill. The plastic falls apart resulting in a dropping door when open.
