Re: The 'Humble' Fiat with Race Derived Ferrari V6 - Fiat Dino Coupe

Hi, Both Pininfarina and Agnelli owned 2400 spiders. Pininfarina owned BS1239. He gifted it to Bernard Cahier, and it’s shown in Mike Morris’s book with USA number plate DINO 1 ( it never left Europe!) Cahier sold it to Graham Bryant, and Graham sold it to me in 2003 via Talacrest (Ferrari speciali...

Re: Dino restoration on YouTube

I think that the rusting capacity of steel depends on the grade you buy, not the country it does comes from. We know that salt is not a big issue in a country like Italy where roads have few occasions to be salted. This, alone, explains why the salt protection was not something seriously considered ...

Re: The 'Humble' Fiat with Race Derived Ferrari V6 - Fiat Dino Coupe

There's a saying in the collector car auction market.... "When the top goes down, the price goes up" ... The tricky thing with Dinos is that the Coupé is not at all the same kind of car than the Spider. Nobody (that doesn't know Dinos) will bet even a cent that the Spider is the convertib...

Re: The 'Humble' Fiat with Race Derived Ferrari V6 - Fiat Dino Coupe

Yes the Coupé is heavier than the Spider, but to be frank, today, any EV will have a better performance than the best Dino. So the question is no longer the performance figures but the feeling. The same debate occured when Porsche switched from 964 turbo to 993 turbo. In all domain, the 993 turbo wa...

Re: THE FIAT DINO CHASSIS-NUMBER MYTHOLOGY

Just adding my 2 cents to the debate: - According to the MMB, there has been 25 chassis prototypes shared by AS and AC, but, as far as I know, we’ve never had a clue on what the repartition between AC and AS was. Maybe the difference between ricambi number and chassis numbers of early AC/AS will pro...

Re: Fiat Dino chassis number

Still in the writing process and information checking, Mike wrote in his book that Dinoplex first arrived on Coupé # 2466 but on a list from Dinoswede, it is written #2436. The answer should be on the parts catalog for Dino 2000, II-1970 version, but unfortunately, I only have VII-1967 in my files. ...

Re: Fiat Dino Colour Codes

By the way, I was wondering if anyone ever saw a "lilla" car ? I've heard about the colour existence but never saw it on a actual car.

Re: Fiat Dino chassis number

Thanks for the answer that sounds realistic. @All, I’m progressing quite well on my work originally based on Mike Morris book. It was meant to be a simple translation to french originally, but there was some unsolvable copyright issues after Mike passed away. However, due to the time that passed sin...

Re: Fiat Dino chassis number

I just found this picture: https://petrolicious.com/articles/an-artistic-inside-look-at-the-origins-of-fiats-dino-coupe It's an extract from a book on the Fiat Dino. The amazing thing is that it displays the plate number AND the number stamped on the chassis and surprize, the plate is 7 digits, the ...

Re: Fiat Dino chassis number

For information, I'm progressing regarding my work based on correcting Mike Morris's book. I'm also adding hundreds of photos each time something is described and footnotes regarding things where there is a debate. The error regarding VIN length was not only made on page 118 but also anywhere else i...
