Re: Dutch 2.4 Spider

Why have the rims been of poor qiality? It would also be interesting to know if the two shops really have different suppliers.

Re: Petronix replacement for points

But ultimately I want to use the car having been deprived of it for four years, so reliability will be the deciding factor in the long term. Funnily, the only reliability problem I ever had regarding ignition was with an MSD ;) I still don't know why. My Dino came w/o Dinoplex and I tried the cheap...

Re: Petronix replacement for points

Having said that, I've been at the same point as you are now. I had a fully functional Dinoplex including coil in my Dino. I was just a bit scared that sooner or later my original coil or Dinoplex would die so i decided to remove it alltogether, put it in a box and stored it away in a safe place. I...

Re: Bleeding Brakes

I'm not sure about calipers with no bleeding valve, but don't you bleed them by opening the brake line connection a bit?

Re: Oils.

You should always keep your oil level a little bit below maximum.
It cannot be guaranteed that the oil pressure reading is 100% accurate. To be sure that the oil pump is delivering enough pressure you should meter it with an accurate gauge.

Re: color of cam cover and engine block

There are often annoying discussions about this topic like this one: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=564&start=20
The cam covers are either magnesium or aluminium with a passivation coating. No paint.
The engine block is also bare aluminium (2000) or cast iron (2400).

Re: Oils.

I use the UFI 23.162.02 oil filter. It is important that it has a riser inside that prevents complete drainage.
Regular 20W-50 mineral oil is perfect for the Dino.
