Re: Chain tensioner adjustment, turned in to major failure

Dan, I was there by coincidence last Friday and they were just opening up your engine when i walked in. Really sad to see the damage that occured. But what i heard from them and what i could conclude myself was well was the following. The studs from the camshaft bearing caps are made of 5.6 grade st...

Re: Programmable MSD ignition in Dinoplex case.

Yes and No. First of all did you connect your tacho to the coil - terminal or to the grey tacho signal wire from the MSD? Most likely (but this is based on what i have heard and read but not investigated myself) is that the original tacho requires a 12V square wave signal generated by the Dinoplex i...

Re: Dinoplex AEC101 cases

I'm working on a solution to make it as easy as possible to convert the dinoplexes with MSD (programmable) internals. This option will have all the benefits of new electronics like accepting both points setup as electronic triggers while at the same time keeping the stock CD type of ignition. Workin...

Re: Dinoplex AEC101 cases

Hi Peter, They are €795,-. That is for a complete dinoplex case with switch body, switch, gasket, new Warning/Caution lables, plastic 3d printed feed through for the wires etc. etc. I have limited stock and it's just something i make in my free hours beside my regular job. It's quite labor intensive...

Re: Chain tensioner adjustment, turned in to major failure

My concerns are now, and this might seems funny? are I i would like a fully bling-bling looking engine in my car, that have all the patina left? of corse I would like the clean look, but not overdressed so it looks like there another engine put back in... I totally get what you mean. I also have a ...

Re: Chain tensioner adjustment, turned in to major failure

Please don't decide to quickly.
If you have enough place, put it away for a while and let the negative feeling fade away a bit before taking a decision.
But that's just my thought....

Re: Chain tensioner adjustment, turned in to major failure

I think you are right about that, these are important modifications. But in this case i think the timing chain tensioner was not the one to blame. It seems like it is the bearing in the front cover from the drive gear that has disintegrated. Could just be bearing wear. Question would be what made th...

Re: Chain tensioner adjustment, turned in to major failure

Wow, looks like the roller bearing of the left cam drive gear just totally disintegrated causing the shaft to get out of line. And that caused the gear to jump until the piston hit your valves. Makes me very sad to see this, such a nice and original engine and car. But i'm sure these guys in Holland...
