Re: Noisy top end

Oh oh... I think w've all drop something somewhere sometime... Judging by your valve clearance, compression, misaligned cams, it may not be a bad idea to pull the engine. Which is not that difficult if you have an engine lift. And refurbish that engine a bit, clean the carbs while you are in there. ...

Re: Noisy top end

Your valve clearances are off. The should be 0,2mm+/-0,05mm and 0,4mm+/-0,05mm for a fiat 2400 dino. Did your cams look worn? If not, adjust the clearance. Or you might check if there is oil in your coolant.
Or if there is a lot of pressure in you cooling system when running.
Or try a leakdown test of your cooling system.
Or check for steam in your exhaust gasses.

All signs of a leaking head gasket. But then it is time to take the heads of anyway.

Re: So what did you do to your Dino today?

Put a bit of oil down the spark plug hole of that cylinder and test again. If the reading is higher it might be the piston rings. If not, then open up the camshaft cover (easy job but just be sure not drop any nuts down the carburettors or down hy the famshafts. Work like a surgeon and count if ther...

Re: So what did you do to your Dino today?

Like Tobi said. Cold engine is fine. One plug at a time or all plugs out does not matter much either. And the value of the measurement is not that important, but they have to be close to each other. But you have to fully depress the gas pedal! Not doing that probably caused your readings. Your readi...
