Hi Robmurray,
the Grigio Silverstone 661 belongs to the range of colors of model Coupé 2400 (1969-1974).
I believe that only metallic colours provvided for the Coupé 2000 (1967-1968) were Argento Indianapolis and Azzurro Mexico, both optionals.
I must say that your Coupé 2000 is really very very very beautiful 8-)
Congratulations ;)

According to the Mike Morris book, Grigio Silverstone was offered on both the 2000 and 2400 Coupes...

In the book of Mike Morris there are some inaccuracies, and this is one of them ....
These are the colours set for the 2000 Fiat Dino Coupé 1967-1968.

In the Mike Morris's book, like in the Giorgio Nada's book, are mixed colours of the two versions 2000 and 2400.
Peter Tabmow, the ones you see in the picture are the only colours provided for Dino Coupé 2000 (source Autopocket 1968) ;)

Very interesting, Patrizio... I have seen a few 2000 Coupes in Grigio Silverstone, so perhaps they were resprays undertaken on the basis that it was cited as an original colour in Mike Morris' book! Do you know of any photos of the Argento Indianapolis colour?

Oh dear - this means that my Coupe is in fact the wrong colour - great time to find out after spending £2.5k on body work!!
Is there any way that I can find the original colour?
Thanks
Rob

Rob, it can't be a 'wrong' colour if it's that beautiful...

As I said in the previous answer I too find Robmurray's Coupé 2000 very charming !
Maybe it's the color that I like best for Dino Coupé.
So if the purpose was to have a car as you like you've hit the target ;)
If you wanted to do faithful to the original, then you missed something ...

The color code of Silver Indianapolis should find in the list of the company colors of LECHLER, which produces original colors for classic cars.

Grand Turismo is OK !
In fact both metallic colors Argento Indianapolis and Azzurro Mexico (optionals) were typical of Bertone production of those years.
The Dino Coupé were painted in Bertone's factories in the same period which they were painted the 850 Spider: economies of production

Thanks for your positive comments about my car. I could not believe my luck when I found a genuine low mileage car (50000km since new). It was fundamentally very good, never having had any rust and with a massive mechanical rebuild, everything powder coated underneath, etc, but had been really badly maintained for the last 10 years - for example we drove all the way back from Portugal to the UK to find out that all of the steering and front suspension nuts were undone - it could have failed at any point. The middle carb was flooding neat fuel into the engine, the Dinoplex was faulty and bypassed and there were some horrid short cuts on the respray - they had filled the holes for the original french number plates with rivets and then painted over. They had also used far too much filler to fair the body, including filling in the wing to sill joints. This was supposedly Portugal's top restorer according to FS Automoveis who sold me the car (not recommended at all). I am in no position to restore another car - it is one of 3 that I have, I have two tiny children and am I am incubating a fledgeling business which means I have had no income for a year now. However, as so often happens, I have got sucked in to this and made a decision to redo all of the poor work and take the car to its full potential. I have spent £11k so far, mostly with a Ferrari Dino specialist (Templar and Wilde - strongly recommended), and this is not including recently ordered XWX tyres and wheel refurbishment. Crazy I know but this is one of those rare time warp cars that had to be saved.
The value is more than keeping up with the money spent but that does not help my bank account as I can never sell it. Your positive feedback give me motivation to finish the final details. I am then going to use it as much as possible - it is gorgeous to drive...
