Yes, One of 2 in that color in 1971 according to Pininfarinas records and they were both sold in Rome. True story, in 1971 I was a 17 year old and my parents sent me to europe. I never saw the Eiffel tower, the coliseum in Rome, etc, etc. I had my guitar and all I wanted was to play music and chase young girls. Long story short, I met a little beauty in Rome...her family must have been quite well connected because they took me to have an audience with the Pope that Sunday and he could not have been more than 20 feet away.

As we were leaving St. Peters, we were crossing a large piazza to the street. I heard this high pitched noise and watched in awe a low slung burgundy car flash past me. Even as a young man, knowing nothing about Dinos, and only having my license for a year,I never forget that shape or sound. Flash forward 25 years later to 1996 and I was buying a car that had not seen the light of day for 12 years. During the restoration, I noticed the color number on the VIN plate and we returned the Dino to her original burgundy color # 162.

A few weeks later after speaking with Sergio Pininfarina, it all came flashing back to me. As a 17 year old, as this new Fiat Dino 2.4 spider drove past me on the streets of Rome, I had a 50% chance of seeing the actual car that I would one day own in the far future....an automotive angel if you will. Sent chills up my spine.

These cars can do that to you.

Great story! I got goose pimples while reading.
If it wasn't your car you've seen at that time, it might have been Dirk's car. I can ask him if it was delivered to Rome.

Hi Jon,
Dirk just wrote that his late 71 Spider #1530 was sold in Piedmont. He knows 5 2400 Spider in this great color.

Sorry John, no intention of hijacking your post…

I've posted this photo before but just confirming that my mind is set on this, I hope to start stripping down my car from next month.
