Dino Spider 2.4 #1396

Hello to all! My name is Ed and after 25 years of thinking about it and reading many issues of Wally Clark's great newsletter, I've finally taken the plunge and have acquired a Dino Spider, #1396, which is on its way from Europe to our home in New Mexico. If my calculations are correct, it's passing through the Bermuda Triangle just about now!
It would appear to be something of a sister car to jonfink's lovely burgundy 2.4, other than having a tan interior. I thoroughly enjoyed his account of seeing a similar car in Rome many years ago, and this vehicle was indeed in Rome for almost all of its life as well. It also is paint code #162 (Burgundy or Amaranto?), and I look forward to seeing it in the flesh/sheet metal. I'm a little shy in forums like this, and am not the world's greatest typist or picture-taker, but I'll try to get some further info and shots of the car out soon...assuming that the variables of long travel and customs cooperate!
The car has been sitting for a while, I'm not sure exactly how long, and there is bound to be some work that needs to be done.
I'm looking forward to being a part of your cordial and highly informed group, and I apologize in advance for some dumb questions I may ask! Thanks in advance for your help.
Best wishes through the holidays to you all, and I hope that your restorations and winter repairs are going well.
Ed

Thanks Dino John!
As I think we all already know, the car people matter more than the cars.
But our cars are pretty cool too!

Hi Olivier,

Concerning your ownership of 1496 as well, would you mind sharing some info of this car, since not registered at all in the Dino Register / Dino Italia, which we nonchalant are calling the w.w. Dino Register.

Thanks and kind regards,
Hans Kristian Jepsen

Hello to all!
I want to thank you all for the interest and support, and will get some pix and further info out soon. The car arrived, and I'm delighted with it over all, but it sustained a little shipping damage and probably needs a throwout bearing and a dozen other things before it's really ready to go. This car is a treat to drive! I've had a little untimely knee surgery, and can't do much more than get around the block with it right now, and pictures are tough for the moment.
Thanks again, and I'll report more soon!
Ed

Hello Olivier,
That is an amazing history on your Dino spider....I think the colors you have chosen for the restoration are going to be incredibly beautiful! Do you have an estimated completion date?
These are rare cars with some very rare parts...have you run into any serious problems with the restoration?
I wish you the very best of luck on that fabulous project and look forward to seeing reports on your progress.
