2000 and 2400 Dino Coupé restoring and modifying projects

Post by Dinofanwim »

Hey everyone,

Since yesterday I had my 2000 and 2400 Dino Coupé´s in my new workshop!

This afternoon I spend 3 hours overthere and already started to sort some parts.

As my hands were itching, I also did a bit of paint stripping!

As you can see, I don't like acid paintstrippers, nor sanding or shotblasting with sand, nutshell, metallic balls or glassballs. As I don't have running water, waterjetting is not an option either!

After X-mas I will get a 2nd hand office bureau which will do fine as a workbench.

More photos will be sent in the new Year to keep you updated!

Merry X-mas and a happy New Year from The Netherlands for all Dino fans!

Update with new pics.

Also a photo from the T-shirt I received from my son who lives in Cornwall. ( Questa T-shirt ho ricevuto oggi la posta. Regalo di mio figlio e io felice! )

Nice job.

Will you spray it yourself?

Could you also post pictures of the 2400 interior? that is the part I am concentrating with now.

Hereby the 2400 interior. (Perhaps I might sell it as I intend to make something very special from the 2400.) :?

As for my 2000, I am looking to refurbish the dark blue upholstery, as this was the original interior! (I am also making a list of the missing parts)

Certain details are excellent, like the gearknobs. As you can see the gearshift pattern on the knob from the 2400 clearly indicates the ZF dogleg gearbox. :|

My 2400 has dark blue interior. Curious about one thing: are your armrests also dark blue, or black? My car came with them in black, but I don't know if they match the interior or not.

Black armrest on my 2000. (See on the left side of the transmission tunnel.) (So that seems to be correct!)
Also the inlays from the ashtrays they are also in black.

But certain details of the skai interior are in a matching blue leather colour, like for example the part which goes around the handbrake.

I have a caught a cold, so right now I can't go out, but if there something else you like to find out, just let me know and I will check it asap!!

Regards,

Wim

Thanks for the reply. I have seen several configurations, but hard to say which one is correct. Could also be possible different finishes, depending of what they had handy when building a car..

Get better soon.

Regards..

Finding out what's correct is not easy. You may look at old brochures, but it can still be possible that they show pre-production cars that differ in some details. Photos in contemporary articles might be a better source.

Some expert today told me to get hold of the initial press-kits.
The pictures that are included in these press kits seem to be a real reliable source.
My oldest car friend has one of the most important Ferrari archives in the world and owns a very nice 250GTE with special camshafts (as on the 250GT SWB!)
He recently bought documentation from the old Jacques Swaters collection. (Most old Ferraris are archived in seperate folders per chassisnumber.
He also has a lot of very rare Dino documentation.
So I am going to visit him one of these days and see if he doesn't have a press-kit.
I'll keep you informed.
