Difficult driving away easy

Post by alfredhamstra »

I dont have much experience in driving a Dino....
I drove 15 kilometers with mine after fixing small problems and the wiring.

But even when i dont have much experience, i think there is a problem with mine.
The situation is that it is impossible to drive away easy. I have to give a lot of gas while acceleration and releasing the clutch.
Gassystem, cables and stuff go easy, all lubricated and not sticking.
Also the engine performs well.
So i expect the clutch.

Any thoughts?

Can you give us more details? Are the carburettors clean and well adjusted? What about the timing? It should be 10°before tdc. If that is off, it could give you problems starting under load.

Thanks for the reply
The engine picks up nice when running in free
Timing is around 10 degrees, but not spot on, it moves a bit around the timingmark.
There is a 123 ingition installed by the previous owner
Maybe there the problem is...

Another thing i saw is that the free pedaltravel is less then 1 centimeter, where 2.5 centimeter, 1 inch, is specified in the books
So looks like it is much too closeadjusted.

Ill check more in the weekend

Update (after not driving one year and fixing lots of things...)
It was the gascable not working nicely...
So a new cable for 25 euros fixed the problem

Why is everything not that simple..
