Finish on bonnet grills

Post by 4cambob »

From looking at photos it seems most grills on the 2lt coupe are silver although confusingly some are black. Are the silver grills left bare aluminium and if so how do you stop corrosion or are they clear
coated or painted silver.

originally the grilles are anodized aluminum. So painting over will require a good shop wash and an etching primer..or you can have them anodized again..

Thanks dinoverde, do you mean a finish like that on the aluminium door shuts which is a bit shiny.

The 2.0 coupe grill is not aluminum as the spider grill was. The finish is chrome on cast steel.

i might have got confused here.. are we talking about the front grille or the hood vent grille..
front grille chrome finish over pot metal.. vent grille anodized aluminum..
