real trailing arm replacements on a fiat dino spider 2400

Post by dinoverde »

I am replacing the rear trailing arm bushings on my spider 2.4 liter. The old ones came out fairly easily, and the new ones supplied by superformance were very easy to fit in. They could be put in with just a rubber mallet.
I am worried that those bushing will rotate in the housing when the suspension is put back together. I am tempted to install two pins or screws so they do not rotate. Has anyone dealt with those and were they also easy to install. Alfa romeo trailing arms use similar bushings , but they are forced in to stay in place(with a press). The fiat dino rear suspension does not work the same so it could be that they do not need to be so tight.
Advices and help greatly appreciated on this subject..
Hervé

Would expect they should not rotate, especially looking at the design of the bush where in this case the orientation is a factor.
Adding some Loctite 638 when mounting them will most likely stop them from going anywhere.

In the F308 all the bushes come with a weld spot to prevent them from rotating.

Thanks
I might just drill and pin them if the lock tight does not hold..
I checked with two suppliers and everyone is using the same dimension bushings..(they are slightly smaller than the originals..)
I wonder ion anyone else has noticed that when replacing the rear trailing arm bushings..
thanks

I have replaced them during my complete rear axle rebuild 2 years ago, they do not rotate at all. Had to press them in on my hydraulic press. Got them from Superformance. KR, Thomas
