Exhaust manifolds mounting

Post by Bijan »

Hi everyone,

I am about to change my exhaust manifolds (2.4l Coupé) and I would like to
know if you recommend to use some fluid sealant (heat resistant until 1000 °C)
additionally to the gaskets between the cylinder heads and the flanges of the manifold.
I am using the premium quality (extra thick) gaskets from Superperformance...

I just want to make sure that I don't have to do this again in the next time
as this work is really a PITA

Thank you

Hi, I didn't put anything else other than copper paste on the screws before bolting them up. No leaks or problems as yet, but I have not tried (or had to) take them off again. It helps if you unbolt the transmission and use a jack to move the engine up and down a little.

good luck,

Dario

Sorry, I should have been clearer: unbolt the transmission from the driveshaft and from its support at the back. Don't forget a jack to support it!
