timing chain tensioners

Post by vjim »

Hi ,
First i would like to apologise for my english ( i'm french , nobody's perfect  )
I have a 1968 fiat dino spider , and i would like to adjust my chain ( it's the earlest adjustors ).

No problem to do that , but on one side i didn't have the stretcher screw . So i order it and i received this :

I don't understand why the part on left is not flat on the two sides ? Can somebody explain to me how i can put it before the screw ?

thanks

The part to the left is the one that goes first into the engine block, secondly the treated bolt. The left part pushes direct on the chain tensioner. It is difficult to see from the picture, but the left part is most probably still sitting in the engine block. Try to use a magnet to extract the part.
