fuel bowl 2.4 motor

i have been trying to get my car up and running.the car will crank up and idle great but when running down the road it want to pop and not run smooth,i notice the glass fuel bowl half empty but never empty is this normal or is car starving for fuel.could it be a bad a fuel pump?
can anybody help.

Could be dirt in the fuel system, or a problem with the ignition. How do the plugs look like? Do you have the same issues when changing to the "Emergenca" setting of the ignition?

i have rebuilt carbs and clean out fuel lines and the dinoplex has been taken out. by the previous owner.the question is does the glass fuel bowl and filter suppose to stay full all the time or half full when running.

Half full when running should be fine. If you are running on a points and coil ignition, you might want to check if the spark plugs are fouled. Could also be a defective coil or broken capacitor. I would recommend to upgrade to an electronic ignition, this might also help solving the problems you have described.
