2400 coupe wiper fault

Post by willow84 »

Hi everyone,

I've got an issue with the wipers not operating correctly.
When the switch is operated I can hear the relay click and the wipers try to move, but struggle. If I assist the wiper arm slightly it will travel across the screen.
I thought it may be a weak motor but if I give the motor a direct feed it seems to operate correctly.

I'm now thinking it's either the relay or speed controller.

Has anyone had a similar issue or any ideas for further testing???

Thanks in advance

Martin

Oh Yes thats a Common Topic.
There are Two topics:
- Clean the Contacts at the Two Plugs ob the Motor
- most probably you have to clean the mechanics, mainly on the driver side. These often gets stucked when the lubrification gets dry or Stiff.

You can try out by disconnecting the transmission/shaft for the drüber side and see if the Co driver side only is Working better.

Thanks Thomas.
There was some corrosion on the connectors which I've cleaned off as best as I could.
I'm pretty sure the linkages are free as when I powered direct to the motor it seems to operate ok.
