Dino spider wood dash console

Post by dinoverde »

The wood on my center console was damaged by the previous less than careful previous pseudo radio installer..
The dash itself is still very nice, so I would like to know what kind of wood was used, and if any members on this board, could share their knowledge and experience with reproducing wood dash panels and console panel. What type of wood should I look for to keep the car as original .. I am in northern california..any wood shop recommendation would also help. I do not want to replace the original wood with a very high end veneer . I just want to redo it using the original type and quality , to match it as close as possible to the original light color wood on the dash.

Hello Herve',
I happened to see your posting from over a year ago, and my car has precisely the same problem with mismatched wood grain around the radio. Have you by chance found a solution to the problem? It's sort of amazing how much a little thing like that stands out when it's in front of your face every time you drive the car!
Thanks for any guidance you might have on this issue. Hope you and your Dino are doing well.

Let me recover this thread.

I am missing the door card wood trim, and I also need to know what kind of wood was used..

Thanks..

I am (hopefully) about to go through a similar remedy on a series 2 2.0 spider. The steering wheel is mahogany wood, not sure about the console/dash though. I have the wheel out for repair/refinish now and once I see the results I may have the same shop tackle center console restoration.
