leaking oil plate timing chain tensioner housing 2.4 V6

Post by DinoTomNL »

Hello,

Here a question regarding my Din 2.4 V6.

My engine is leaking oil on the exhaust headers and annoyingly smoking on the RH side of the engine where the cover plate is from the timing chain tensioner. Can I just take it off, replace the circled part in the photo and fit again? (or do I also need to replace the gasket? )

Do I need to adjust the timing chain tensionor when I take it off afterwards? (already checked it and was fine, but valve cover is already on again)

(also saw online that there is a plate developed to prevent leaking oil on the other side on the alternator?) (‘the dino deadly drip saver’ see here; http://dino246blog.blogspot.fi/2013/01/ ... saver.html )
(however that doesn't solve the problem, and is more developed for the other side to save your alternator just in case)

Kind regards,
Tom
