Heater radiator / matrix

Post by HugoHarris »

Hi, my heater radiator / matrix is gunked up and needs re-coring. Does anyone know if a FIAT 124 or similar is a compatible substitute?

Hi Georg, many thanks for the offer. I have found someone to re-core my matrix so will go that route.

You can buy a 124 heater core and modify it by switching out the tank end with the studs. The original tank is the same size - the difference being the positioning of the inlet / outlet piping. The rest of the core is identical. I was lucky to have a radiator shop reasonably close to me. I also recall that they may have added a divider inside the tank to keep the flow separated as it would be on the unmodified 124 part.
