Engine bay lights

Post by 4cambob »

I am coming to the end of my 2lt coupe rebuild and I have managed to get all my electrical systems working with the exception of the engine bay lights. Does anyone have any advice how to proceed.

I forgot to ask how would they normally light up. Is it only when the main lights are on or any time the bonnet is opened.

I don't think that they are connected in line with the main lights. The switch connects to ground.
But what about checking the wiring diagram? ;)

The hot wire(plus) gets a feed when the lights are turned on. The negative wire gets a feed when the switch grounds itself when opening the hood..

The wiring diagram shows the power comes from position G on the fuse box, but it's impossible to trace back the wires from the engine bay lights once it enters the main loom and then goes behind the dash. What I cant understand is that this system is original and has never been touched .
