Side direction indicator lights

Post by Gaelicguy »

Does anyone know if there was a region where the Dinos were sold that did not have side direction indicators.
My car had what I believe were front parking and indication lights with amber lenses.
The Carrelo number stamped into the light lends to believe these were for the German market.
The hole in the body for the side direction indicators have a perfect circle of metal welded onto the body panel and not evidence of filler.

Hi, I am not aware of any different Fender Versions - except the differences between 2 and 2,4 Liter, Both Coupé and Spider of course.

Closing the hole can make a 2 Liter fender towards a 2,4 one - or due to personal taste someone closed that hole.

The amber glasses are used for the German Market - but then also the bulb holder in the indicator has only one contact as the parking light was then in the main beam.

Hi, I have looked a little on this topic, and joins in with my "findings".

Side indicator:
All Spider 2000 have the Italian type approval IGM4954OM (with a few added extension during the production), and accoridng to the homologation document they where all homologated with side indicators. The indicator light have partnumber 4164654, which is identical to the indicator part number for the 2000 Coupe.
In my parts catalog someone have written over the last digit of the part number on the Spider (but not on the Coupe), and changed the number to 4164655, but I haven`t managed to find out anything about this partnumber.

Front Position lamp & Indicator:
When talking about the front position lamp & indicator, it is "clearly" described in the parts catalog, but you have to read it some times to get it clear. First of all you have to be aware of the country codes, which is described on page 6 in the catalog:
Parts catalog - Variants.jpg

When you then look in the catalog, there is actually 3 variants of the front position lamp & indicator:
4155999/ 4156000 - This is the lamps used up to Ricambi no. 500, specified as Modificha C2976 in the catalog.
4176098/ 4176099 - This is the lamps used from Ricambi no.501, specified as Modificha D2976 in the catalog.
4176098/ 4176103 - This lamps are marked with (35-39), so intended for the German & Danish market:

In the chapter F6.32 & F6.32/3 there is specified different part numbers for lenses on the D2976 version, but in the text description they are both described as "Trasparente"!
F6.32 - 9917480 d/ 9917481 s
F6.32/3 - 9918782 d/ 9918783 s

So some of the mystery continues

Wow Eric!
This is a great post, thankyou.
As I am 000665, I should definately have these side markers. I am the 3rd owner of the car and I just imported it back from the USA to our home in Portugal.
I’m about to go through the inspection process to get it licensed here in PT. ( an agonizing process)
I’m definitely going to drill the holes and install the lights ( I have the parts) before the inspection.
Where did you find the Homologation Certificate ?

I was asked for one by the PT inspectors, but I talked them out of it because of its age. But it would be nice to have one.
