Which dimension tires are original?

Post by alfredhamstra » Wed Apr 10, 2019 7:30 am

My first model spider has 205/70R 14 tires. But seems that they are too wide, they touch the car from the inside by cornering at maximum.
Whats original?
In my book it seems 185?

Any help please.

Hi Alfred,

the 2000 Dinos were originally equipped with 185 HR 14 Michelin XAS tires (height/width ratio 80). As Fiat was not happy with their performance, Pirelli and Fiat developed the Cinturato CN 36 tire specifically for this car, in 205/70 VR 14 dimension. This tire was a relevation in performance, especially under wet conditions.

Fortunately, the CN36 was relaunched in 2016 by Pirelli in modern technology, but old design. Currently the best tire you can buy in classic design.
I have it on my 2400 coupe since then - great!

If you do not like the dimension, you could try the 185 HR 14 Michelin MXV-P.
