Greetings all,
I am a new owner of a 1967 coupe.( since August)
I have been advised that I must always add a lead substitute to the gas.
I have also been told that engine had ultimately racing specs and valves do not need the lead substitute.
So far I have used highest octane available in California and added a lead substitute.
Can anybody clarify this issue please?
Thanks
lead substitute needed?

Re: lead substitute needed?
I use 98 octane fuel and lead substitute. I don't know if lead substitute is indispensable, but adding it keeps you on the safe side.

Re: lead substitute needed?
From a technical perspective, the Dino engine does not need lead substitute (similar to classic Jaguar and Mercedes engines with aluminium cylinder heads and valve seat inserts) - lead additives can even be harmful for the engine concerning deposits.
Of course, high quality fuel of 98 octane is necessary as well as the regular check of correct valve clearance.
