Fuel acidity

Post by ElDino2400 »

My mechanic recommended I add 100ml of oil for small engine to every full fuel tank for my Dino 2400 coupe. This to reduce the acidity of the E95 fuel.

Any view about that?

Thanks

Hello Fabrice,

from engineering point of view this is nonsense as such oil will build up harmful carbon layers within the combusion chamber, at piston ring seats and valves.

And it creates unnecessary HC emissions harmful for the natural environment.

Modern lead free fuels are in fact very poisonous for men and harmful for OLD fuel hoses (to be precise - their additives).

So my recommendation would be:
- use only fuel of 98 octane or more for Dino engines
- replace your old fuel hoses with modern materials FPM/ECO/AR/ECO (Typ 3E) according to DIN 73379-1
- avoid contact with fuel and its vapour

During the winter break, some specific "fuel stabilizer" should be added to avoid corrosion and chemical disintegration of fuel.

All the best!
