Locking for Wooden strip for the Dino Spider hood

Hello everyone...

I'm looking for the wooden strip that's on the third support of the convertible top for the Dino Spider, and to which the top is stapled.

Does anyone have one or two strips they can donate or can tell me where I can order them?

Thanks in advance.

It might seem like a daunting task at first, but it’s really not too bad—at least, relatively speaking.

I didn’t even bother looking for a replacement part. Like most things with Dinos, it’s part of the challenge (and charm) of owning a rare car.

I bought a strip of wood from a local lumber supply. The key is choosing the right species for bending—White Ash is what you want. If you don’t have a supplier nearby, try Rockler (https://www.rockler.com/white-ash-sold- ... -thickness). Just note that the pieces listed might not be long enough for the full bow—you may need to call them, splice sections, or just replace a segment like I did.

I followed a few tutorials on steaming and bending wood, clamping it into shape, and letting it dry under tension. It actually turned out quite well. You’ll need to shape the wood first to match the cross section and fit it neatly into the steel structure. A good carpenter could help, or even an upholstery trimmer—I’ve heard of both handling bow replacements.

Your photo looks like a great reference to recreate the shape.

Stay patient—it’s a satisfying project once you’re through it.

Please share the name of the Italian business, I recently repaired mine but a new one would be easier to buy.
