Small dinoplex coils puzzle

Post by The Dutch Dino »

I have a Fiat Dino 2400 coupe with the small dinoplex AEC 103 A.
So far so good. But the coils that came with the car are a bit of a puzzle.

My question is: which can I fit as the normal and the emergenzia coils?

The three point coil is for a large dinoplex. BZR205A.

The other ones are BES200A. With letters D and +B and 1 and 16 on it.
And a BE200B. With the same letters and numbers on it.

I am also confused by the letters as the diagram at http://www.dinoplex.org/PDF/Dinoplex_AE ... iagram.pdf
shows a K and a D and a 31.

So, which would fit and how?
Thanks.

Happy new year!

The BZR205A is coil is quite rare, take good care of it! A good replacement for the AEC103A main coil is a MSD Blaster 2 coil (#8200 or #8202).

BE200B is a classic coil for Fiats and should work nicely as a emergenzia coil, i dont ' have any infos about the BES200A unfortunately.

1, D = Minus/Points side (blue wire)
16, B+ = Battery plus side (yellow wire)

Thank you! This was the ino I needed!

So, what the current price for the rare BZR205A? I've seen them for 400 US$...
Is this because they fit a Daytona?

Depends on the condition, a very good one can sell for $500 or more, standard condition but working ones are above $300 by now. They are quite rare and are the only coils working with a Dinoplex C AEC101 (except the BAE202, which is also quite rare).

It's not only about the Daytona (US Daytonas only, EU Daytonas had a simple points based ignition) but with the current prices for original early 246 GTs and Fiat Dinos, these coils are much more in demand.

Thanks again. Well, selling that BZR205A coil will pay for some other parts... :-)
