First, it is obvious (already from your photo of the chassis number) that
some "metal work" has been done there...

This 2 Litre Dino Coupe really creates some questions!

Is this Dino actually registrated somewhere with this fake identity?
Is there any documentation left from its "pre-theft life", that could
indicate the original identity of the car?

I got the idea of asking the owner of AC 3670 if he could find any
number at the bonnet on his Dino. I have just now got an answer:
Yes, he has found 3670 stamped in the metal. I guess this confirms,
that his Dino still has its original bonnet.

So, the next question must be, if this blue 2 Litre Dino Coupe still
has its original bonnet - or is it from a later 2,4 Litre Coupe BC 3685?

If it is a genuine 2 Litre bonnet, it would be a strong indication that
there were some more 2 Litre Dino Coupes made, after chassis number
AC 3670!

I bet this bonnet comes from #3665 and has been changed to 3685 when it was stollen. Just have a look to the 8 figure middle bar and check on the internet the font of the eights stamped by Fiat: they never have "straight" bars between the shoulders and the waist.
And then, the other number has nothing common with a Dino number and has clearly been completely changed.

And we know that #3665 was a 2l as smaller than 3670.

What I can tell regarding those figures is that they are consistent with the figures of Mike Morris after the correction I made when I've done his maths again. So I can't say if they are correct or not, but they match the best figures I have. So they are very probably true.

These data are coming from FIAT factory and are real figures. The last car, VIN nr 1583, has been produced January 1973. It was the only Spider 2400 produced that year.

Best regards

Eric
This is not what your figures say: You display #1583 from november 1972 until january 1973. This means that #1583 has been produced in november 1972 and that Fiat held its books opened until January 1973 when they probably decided to definitely stop offering the Spider. But they hadn't produce a Spider since november 1972. That's how those figures should be read and that way is consistent with Mike Morris's information the production of a given month is equal to the VIN displayed for this month minus the VIN dispayed on the previous month. So in this case, for november 1972, 1583-1582=1 and for January 1973, 1583-1583 = 0.

Hi Chiche

According to my Chassis/ Ricambi register (Which you can download here: http://www.fiatdinoforum.org/viewtopic.php?t=1838), your engine number must be a 1971 production.
1972 production have enigine numbers at 9000.
Would it be possible to get more info about your car, like a picture of the cghassis plate?, please PM me for e-mail correspondance.

I also suppose you would be interrested in this tread: http://www.fiatdinoforum.org/viewtopic.php?t=1834

Great work,

My Spider is 1386, so I am assuming it must be Feb 1971.

Thanks
