Hi all,

I tested a 2000 coupe from 1967 (Prima serie) last Monday. braking was not very powerful. how does the booster work? vacuum pump ? Intake manifold vacuum?

Hi, the vacuum for the brake booster comes from the intake manifold and there is a vacuum tank in the front of the car. The 2400 Dinos have an additional vacuum pump on the right front fender.

The brake system on the 2.0 cars is very good for its time. 4 wheel ventilated discs in that era was almost unheard of. Add to that the light weight of the Spider it was a good system. Not quite as good for the heavier Coupe.
As stated earlier the vacuum is pulled from the inlet manifold thru a one way valve on the firewall. The vacuum tank is right below the radiator behind the bumper. It may have developed a hole due to rust.
The replacements are now plastic,
All pipes are metal tube except the braided reinforced hose from the engine to the T valve.
The calipers and pads are huge for a car this weight.
I suspect a vacuum leak, or something more obvious like leaking calipers.

Brakes are now fixed.
Leak on vacuum line fixed. New master cylinder and new fluid.
