Problems with points / breakerless ignition

Hi, the points in my 2400 spider have just given up. The distributor was expertly rebuilt by Mark Devaney (experienced UK Dino specialist) using new points from Superformance less than 1,000 miles ago. The plastic "rubbing block" on the points which bears against the cam has worn to nothing resulting in some "interesting" running on 3 cylinders. Can anyone suggest a source of better quality points? Can anyone personally recommend a magnetic or optical breakerless conversion kit for the Dino distributor, or am I better off keeping things stock? Adrian, if you're reading this, your views would be particularly welcome!

Interesting, haven't had such problems with points supplied by Superformance yet, maybe their supplier changed? Have you or Mark talked to Colin about this? Maybe Eurospares has a different set available?
My favorite conversion is the Lumenition Optronics OS50 pickup combined with the Bosch 137 high power ignition but that won't be a helpful recommendation if you still have the original Dinoplex in place.
I am not a fan of the Pertronix Ignitor series, they can be used as points replacement to trigger a Dinoplex, but the ones i had on the test bench had variations of 2-4º advance between cylinders due to the design of the magnetic sleeve. If you still have the original Dinoplex in place and can't source a decent set of points, it might be worth a try to install a Pertronix MR-161A to trigger the Dinoplex.

Thanks Adrian, great advice as always. I have the original Dinoplex which is functioning well (due in large part to your previous advice) so I will get another set of points from Colin and hope the last set were a bad batch.
