Hi good questions, I understood that the work is related to the early style valvetrain, with the shims under the cam follower, there you need to take out the camshafts. On the later style you can adjust the valve clearence with the camshafts in. Much easier to do.
To the question: if the timing is right after you assembled everything back together with the right chain tension you don’t need to adjust the timing, when it’s already right.

Re: Camshaft removal
On an early style Dino you can easily use the first one.
I've been running my dino for around 20.000km with intake close to 0.15 en exhaust close to 0.40.
No problems whatsoever. And once set correctly they hardly change, haven't had to re-adjust them during that time.
I would aim for 0.175 and 0.40 if you don't hammer it all the time.

Hi all,
I'm checking valve clearance on m'y early style 2 liters.
I need less than 2mm shims.
Only 2mm or more available on dealers website.
Thanks for your help.
Damien

Re: Camshaft removal
Try valve shims from Alfa TwinSpark engines. There are 2 different versions TwinSpark engines, older ones with 9mm stems and later ones with 8mm stems. You need the later ones from for example Alfa 164 if my memory serves me well.
They fit perfectly, they come in all sizes, are cheap and easy to get. I also put them in my engine so i know they fit
