Looking for a Door Light

Post by Dino4CELD »

I have a 1967 2.0 litre spider. I am looking, without success to replace the door lights indicated in the attached photo. I could make do with the existing lights if necessary but I do need new gaskets. Any advice on where to look? The usual sources do not carry this item.
Thank you,
Lowell M. Dicke

Bom dia

The pic is an original on my ‘67 Spider. And I noticed neither one has the gasket🥴
I believe Superformance had the original style for sale.
info@autoepoca.it Does have them.
Or did a few months ago.
Let us know if you find them, I’m going to look for the gaskets which show in the parts book as a combined gasket and boot.

Hi, I have several of these door lights and would also sell. I could post photos after 14 April if this is fine for you? Please let me know.

Yes, Georg, I would be interested in buying a set of your door lights. You could also email the photos to me at spider2.0.1967@gmail.com (or post them, your choice). And include the price and shipping please. Thanks so much. Lowell M. Dicke

Thank you Michael (Gaelicguy). Auto D'Epoca was an excellent suggestion.

Since the rubber covers for the door lights for the Dino Spider 2000 series 1 are virtually unavailable anymore, a friend of mine 3D printed them.

The color is red, as an exception, because my Dino Spider is also red and because the matching black 3D printing filament (to make everything elastic like rubber) was unavailable at short notice.

If anyone needs rubber covers, please PM me.

P.S.: The covers can of course also be printed in black and other colors..

And if anyone needs the door lights, they can be ordered online for less than € 8.

hi Michael,
The photo of your door light is not the original one from the Dino Spider 2000 Series 1.
Your photo shows the door light for the Series 2 and Spider 2400.
The metal frame is smaller, and the mounting hole in the door is also smaller than the one for the Series 1.
I searched for a long time for a suitable door light and unfortunately couldn't find one. Except for an offer from the USA, where the door light and the matching rubber together would have cost about $85 (but they only offer the set, you can't buy the parts individually).
The door light was also used in the De Tomaso Pantera, Longch, Maserati Ghibli, and Fiat 2300.

Hi

According to the parts catalog, the "Open door marker light" change was implemented into the production line in October 1967.
Modification is named C/D3202 in the catalog & in B.I.T. 242V (Bollettino Informazioni Tecniche.)
This modification is only noted in the mechanical parts catalog, while the split between Series 1 & 2 is noted in the Body parts catalog by Modifiche C/D3284. The "Open door marker light" is not mentioned in the C/D3284 information, so no documentation in my possession states that it C/D3202 is implemented on Series 2. It is only stated that the D3202 version was implemented into the production line in October 1967!
Directly it is written:
"Effective - From vehicles produced in October, 1967."
