it is looking like they are no longer necessary as I was able to clean up most of the original. But it was quite the job, and newer would be better. Thanks !
The best I can describe them is:
Black oxide spring steel clips that push onto the lower horizontal "fin" or "pinch weld" that extends out ~1cm. The clips engage the two small folded over sections of the polished stainless-steel molding (or possibly chrome steel were original).. Note that the clips have two spring elements extending out from the center of the clip like wings that are different lengths. Slightly longer for the bottom molding feature as the molding X-section is asymmetrical (so longer wing goes down). There are 6 per side.
you can get reproduced molding pieces; But I have not seen the clips to attach, and they really suffer from rust.
